Let us have a civilised debate on Australia - China relations

Last couple of weeks, we have seen the Australian media launched frenzy attacks in all directions, on anything China and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) giving a perception that the world is collapsing down on Australia due to China’s infiltration, influence and interference.

This reaction is exactly what the Hon Paul Keating,  former Prime Minister of Australia was worrying about. The heightened onslaught amounts to amazing China phobia and hysteria. Would this reactions help to make us safer or worse?

This blanket abuse by privileged commenters from many conservative academics and politicians amounts to a trial by media of the CCP, Chinese Government and her citizens without the proper right of reply.

The ferocity of the attack in a civilized and democratic Australian society is quite unexpected and unimaginable despite the the abolition of the White Australian policy some 50 years ago.

Such action is reminiscent of the Cold War propaganda that was directed at the USSR in the classic Capitalism vs Communism situation or McCarthyism.

At the time both sides have imperialistic ambitions and United Nations was still in her infancy. There is no International jurisdiction to pursue but plenty of excuses to launch many very cruel and damaging confrontations and wars. Millions of innocent people died and was passed on as collateral damages. We should all be ashamed of this past experience as civilised human beings today. Any disagreement, no matter how strong, should now be sorted out through international jurisdiction and dialogue.

China has been open to the world for scrutiny last 30 years in particular. Every one can judge that China is not USSR. She does not export so called Communist ideology to upstage other countries or instigating any regime changes as the West is good at through their intelligent infiltration, propaganda to brainwash their peoples in the past 50 years including economic sanctions and military interventions. Examples are aplenty to list.

Moreover, it will be very sad to start a war with China unless both sides are so stupid to end up in annihilation of their peoples and countries with nuclear arsenal aplenty.

I write my regular opinion pieces as an independent  peace maker, having been involved with UNAA,  MAPW, IPPNW and ICAN.

Let us have a civilised debate on many issues that concern our Australian citizens and Government, and the peoples of China and Government and in particular the CCP and their leaders.

The facts are since the establishment of formal Diplomatic Relations with China in 1972, all our Prime Ministers,   many of our Ministers and Shadow Ministers, many Australian politicians, academics,  businessmen,  commentators, community leaders and ordinary  citizens of all walks of life including of course our Chinese Australians, have good contact with China, Chinese Government and citizens  and inevitably members of Chinese Communist Party.

Does anyone suddenly find them so horrible to deal with until now?

The scary thing happening in Australia's society today, is the spread of fear or fear mongering that  the Chinese Communists and China, are coming to get us left, right and centre! How much truth is there?

The most important democratic principle of innocent until proven otherwise has been thrown out of window when it suits the West?

China is still very well connected to Australia as a strategic partner and will be for many years to come. It is

encouraging to hear some balanced view coming too from former Prime Minister the Hon Kevin Rudd speech at Asia

Society Australia and Victoria Premier Daniel Andrew recently.

Let us have a proper and civilised debate before it causes too much damages on both sides of Australia - China

 Relations.
